Python dev needed for a short, self-contained EA project

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Nonlinear Library is an automated podcast that turns top EA content into audio. Currently it has forum-specific channels, but it doesn’t have topic-specific channels. So if you’re really into AI alignment but not animal welfare, or vice versa, you have to filter through all the episodes to find the ones you want.

We want you to write a program that automatically creates topic-specific channels based on tags on the forum. For example, you’d be building channels for:

• AI alignment
• Global health and development
• Animal welfare
• Biosecurity
• Meta
• Job openings
• Prizes, Contests, and Requests for Proposals
• Funding opportunities
• And many more

Depending on how this goes, there’s also room for you to do more work on the Nonlinear Library or other Nonlinear projects.

• Compensation: we were going to hire somebody off of Upwork to do this since there’s no comparative advantage for EAs doing it. However, we realized we could “pay” with donations to interested EAs, and that would be strictly better. So in exchange for this work, we’ll donate $500 to your charity of choice.

WHAT WE NEED

• Python
  
• Self-starter
  
• Creative problem-solver
  
• Ability to commit a minimum of 5 hours a week to the position until the contract is finished. It’s hard to estimate the time needed. It might be finished in a few hours or it might take several weeks
